List some of your fav pieces of video game media.. If it inspired you in any way, let the world hear!  :)

I've been playing a lot of NIGHT RUNNERS: Prologue , It's got a ton of house music and breaks.. Super awesome sense of speed, and it's free! The song "Emotion Engine" by Dazegxd makes me want to break the sound barrier in my ST  8)

I think I just enjoy racing games a whole lot. Makes you feel the music a whole lot more

Gotta be CoQ. I love CoQ so much man its unreal. Whenever I'm working I'm thinking about CoQ, its becoming a problem. Its like Dwarf fortress only as a rogue-like, IDK how to explain it but its been in development for 15 years and still going strong.

demons, and angels, and humans. mainly a gameplay focused srpg series but it has story and lore if you care to look into it. disgaea 1 is about the main character, laharl, waking up to find out his father has died. his father was the king of the netherworld, and with his death it has left an opening for someone to claim the throne, which laharl intends to do. the story expands beyond that but id rather not spoil it if you plan on playing it, i find the story compelling still despite the focus being on the gameplay and grinding  ;D

Nearly 2 decades now of playing it and it's still by far the most fun experience I can have in the medium. Whoever thought to add the takedown mechanic to the game better have gotten some insane perks for it. Not even nostalgia talking either, because I pretty regularly revisit the game and besides the brutal rubber banding the game holds up incredibly well. Revenge (the sequel) is also incredibly fun but not nearly as tight as Takedown, and as time goes on from Burnout Paradise I have less and less nice things to say about that game lmfao

First game I ever saw anybody play in my life and is a straight banger. Not as fast as Quake multiplayer but well made up for it in the crazy vehicle pseudo-RTS maps/gameplay (given that this was the only gamemode people continued to play past a certain date), and also maybe one of the only games that got away with every single weapon having a secondary fire that was crazy in its own right that did not invalidate the primary fire. It also gets the token distinction of having the best version of the unreal 'u' logo. Aesthetics are banging on this shit as well. When you play against bots, their avatars sometimes pop up on the left looking like Marilyn Manson screeching to tell you to kill yourself, it's wild.

Serious Sam: The First/Second Encounter, HD Remastered. Original is fine but the remaster hits that perfect level between Source realism and RTX enabled. Looks like one of many forgotten boomer shooters but gameplay is different; most of the best boomer shooters were remembered for technical level design but Serious Sam is just pure brainrot, where the R&D went into packing as many enemies on the screen as possible, and so in the hardest battles you're killing like 2000 enemies. What really stands out to me though is the aesthetics; the minimalist music combined with the huge, open spaces depicting Babylon and Egypt in these games lives rent-free in my mind. I am pretty sure all of my taste in architecture is in comparison to this.

Quake Live. Surprisingly still playable for an incarnation of a 25 year old multiplayer game in terms of player count (populated game modes are FFA, Freeze Tag, and Clan Arena), which should tell you that some of these geezers are onto something. The gameplay is minimalist and fast; I have listened to people give up on themselves over voice chat after starting out fresh. But if you are in the zone it is just the best; you hit a guy with a rocket mid-air, you plug somebody with a hitscan railgun through a 3 pixel crack, you pull off some kind of crazy-ass movement tech to cut some dude off running for health. More games might have the potential to pull off this level of gameplay, but what they may lack in is maps; Quake Live's maps are tremendously vertical and so you are not only checking angles but have got to be ready to rocket jump floors up or pop people from below. Even aside from the phenomenally tight gameplay the aesthetic is on a whole other level; I will sometimes boot it up just to run around the empty maps. If you play this, I'm ArgyleSocks on the pill clan/white-lightning freeze tag servers.

Quake 1. Everybody else that has been doing Lovecraft since 1996 seems to skew rubbery Cthulhu suits and "The horror! The incomprehensible horror!" at piles of bubbles or some stupid shit. The gameplay is cool (the rocket launcher is iconic, but imo the metal clanging of the grenade launcher pills is truly essential), yet the atmosphere is really that next step of dark, brooding, hateful anti-human aesthetic that Lovecraft himself never quite touched. These places are just dismal; NIN OST goes hard in this respect. Probably one of the weirdest moments I've felt in a game on a purely artistic level is in some level of the 3rd episode, there's a bust of Christ being crucified textured across the wall, in some cramped, industrial cage of a level.

F.E.A.R. 1. The best aspect of this game, prematurely setting aside the cold industrial/office environments, is the enemy AI. It is a little sad that I have yet to see anything better in a mainline FPS, but this is pretty damn good. According to interviews/technical breakdowns it's more smoke and mirrors than it seemed to me but when you play the enemies do appear to actively flank and strategize to kill you, and take cover like it means something. In this spirit I have an idiosyncratic recommendation to play this game: crank the difficulty to the max and unbind the slowmo button. Though the slowmo button is fondly remembered, for best gameplay I personally recommend treating this like the most intense cover shooter ever produced. Some people rave about the story, to which I am indifferent, but the coldness of the environment is certainly down to this influence. The lighting engine though in some technical sense outdated has hard, outlined shadows, which is an underrated look in games.
